The gilt-brass case with exquisite leaf scroll and floral engraving of the highest quality, retaining its original gilding, glazed to the top and sides with white’ bevelled glass and with a removable shuttered gilt rear door with slide adjustment for Strike/Silent, with a folding handle; the gilt electroformed dial with Roman numerals, signed JAS.McCABE ROYAL EXCHANGE LONDON and numbered 2831, with blued steel fleur de lys hands and a subsidiary seconds dial below X11; the substantial two train chain fusée quarter striking movement sounding the hours and quarters on two gongs signed on the backplate James McCabe Royal Exchange London 2831 with a large gilt platform lever escapement with bi-metallic balance and poising screws. With original signed brass bound mahogany travelling case and original numbered winding key.
