A large English carriage clock with a rare Savage two-pin lever escapement.

The glazed gilded case with shaped handle having double leaf motifs in the centre and fretted rear door. The white enamel dial with Roman numerals and blued steel cruciform hands, signed DESBOIS. The two train chain fusee movement sounding the hours and half hours on a gong, with repeat button; having a gilt platform with Savage two-pin lever escapement with bi-metalic balance. The backplate signed Desbois Grays Inn Passage London.

This escapement was designed by George Savage with the engaging of the impulse pinon the line of centres thus eliminating any engaging friction.

Case height: 8 ¼ inches (21cms).
